What is nose surgery?

Nose surgery in Turkey is an operation frequently performed by plastic surgeons. This surgical procedure can produce changes in the appearance, structure and function of the nose. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip, narrow the width of the wings or change the angle between the nose and upper lip.

This operation can help correct birth defects, nasal injuries, and some breathing problems. There is no universal type of rhinoplasty that meets the needs of every patient. Nose surgery is designed for each patient, depending on their needs. Incisions can be made inside the nose, or hidden in inconspicuous places in the nose when an open rhinoplasty is performed.

Internal nasal surgery can be performed to improve breathing at the same time as nose surgery in Turkey. It is one of the cosmetic surgeries that demands the maximum sensitivity, surgical refinement and tact from the plastic surgeon in each particular case. Every nose is different in its anatomical structure, with variations in the thickness and size of the cartilage and bones, the thickness of the skin, the age of the patient, the shape of the face, heredity and other factors. Surgical technique

Our main objective, in addition to improving the shape of the nose, is to maintain or improve the respiratory function of the nose. On the other hand, the nose should not look operated. The nose surgery is performed through small cuts inside the nose. The hump on the back of the nose is reduced, the nasal tip, the septum, etc. are treated. Only in some cases of complex-shaped noses or in re-interventions is the so-called open rhinoplasty performed, in which a small cut is made in the columella (the skin bridge between the lip and the nasal tip that separates the two nostrils). After the operation, a splint is placed to protect the nose and maintain its shape, and small plugs are inserted. It is not a painful surgery in Istanbul. The next day the plugs are removed and a week later the splint is removed.

Anaesthesia

In most nose jobs we use local anaesthesia and sedation. You will be given medication before entering the operating room to make you feel drowsy and calm. Sometimes we use general anaesthesia. The type of anaesthesia varies depending on the case and the patient’s condition.

Surgical time

They last from 30 to 60 minutes.

Post-operative

A splint is applied to the nose and should be worn for about a week. This protects your nose and helps to reduce swelling.

A small packing bandage is usually inserted into the nostrils, which will be removed the next day after the operation. The splint is removed in the consultation room about a week after the operation.
