Povisa Hospital, Vigo, Spain
Povisa Hospital was established in 1973 and is a private hospital. What is generally a medium-sized private facility with 450 beds regularly receives many patients from the national health insurance system as the two public hospitals cannot provide care for the 600,000 or so people who live in Vigo and the surrounding fjords in the far northwest of Spain.
The hospital houses many specialised units, including cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, ENT, general surgery, neurology, obstetrics and gynaecology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery and urology. All departments and operating theatres are equipped with the latest technology available today. Their high level of expertise guarantees a high standard of care, from diagnosis to treatment. The hospital has a team of renowned medical specialists, who welcome local and international patients.
As a user of private health insurance and it has been my reference hospital for more than 10 years, I could not be more disenchanted with the way medical appointments work, since for about a year now they have suspended the appointment you had made, saying that They will call you to give you another one, and weeks go by and no one calls you, even though you are waiting to see the results of tests already carried out. Before you made an appointment for a specialist and they gave it to you within 15/30 days, now it is difficult for them to give it to you within 4 months. They cancel your appointment with the specialist that you have been making for years and they call you and give you another one and when you arrive at the consultation you find a doctor that you don't know at all. You call to make an appointment with a certain specialist and they tell you that he no longer works at Povisa and when you go through the center and talk to the nurses they tell you that he does work and that he is in consultation. Something has changed for the worse, much worse.
In general the service has been 10 minus the reception at the hospital. Not because of the staff themselves, but because the cash register was closed and I had to pay a part of the intervention and it made me feel a little uncomfortable, added to the “nerves” that one can have before having an intervention. They gave me a solution, I paid it immediately and everything was fixed. I want to highlight the attention of both Doctor Valdés and the nurses and the entire team in general who have been outstanding. Thank you!
Very poor emergency care. 3 hours for a doctor to see you, we have asked three times for them to give him something for the pain and they gave it to him 4 and a half hours after we entered. A sprain and edema with the possibility of something more and they leave us in a wheelchair with our leg dangling. More swollen and purple foot. Without comment, what is happening here is the third time we have come for the same problem. Now we have to wait because they have just done analysis
I am in occupational therapy by accident and in August my therapist went on vacation, because the afternoon professional took over the morning patients. Logically, she was saturated and the patients were neglected. After the holidays, I was left without a therapist again due to more than justified personal problems and the same thing happened again. A hospital disaster, they don't even have substitutes for the sick leave or vacations of their professionals. I think I am going to take legal action because my rehabilitation is being greatly affected by the lack of care due to the hospital's cutback policies. By the way, the emergency room is always oversaturated due to lack of personnel and when I went there in April with 3 fractured fingers and my hand like a ball, I was there from 5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. to have an x-ray done. They took me up to the floor at 2 in the morning. As I said, a real disaster.
It is my reference hospital (which belongs to me through Sergas) but I have also gone to paid private consultations many times, as well as to the emergency room, etc., I know many different zones and areas of the hospital, I also had a traffic accident and was there for many months going to rehab for almost 1 year. In general, the treatment, professionalism and experience of the staff was very good. The facilities are spacious and very clean. The hospital is all newly renovated and they are still improving it. Doctors generally pretty good. I wouldn't go to another hospital, honestly. And I was very happy with the Traumatology service among others. I recommend it!
This hospital couldn't be worse. The emergencies are terrible, but other than that. Having to put up with a doctor saying that an operation for a tumor in the head is not a mortgage, detracting from the value of an informed consent that she did not even explain or allow to be read before having it signed. Attention to the patient who is not aware of the patient's rights. If there were fewer stars I would give it less. Zero empathy and humanity, the only thing they are interested in is money.
Excellent attention. All the staff have been very friendly and professional. I was hospitalized for two days after an operation. The rooms and the entire hospital are very clean. Unbeatable treatment
Regrettably, a trauma patient comes in unable to walk and the only thing they tell her is to approach the Cunqueiro without giving her a painkiller.Hire qualified staff, if these people are not suitable for their studies to take the mir tests, they are also not suitable to practice in any other center.Bad doctor, ill trained and a bum
Be very careful in the resonance area. In 2022, they had me undergo a head MRI 3 times, the first time they called me to tell me that it didn't go well and that they had to do it again but adding contrast. They injected me with the wrong contrast, they left my arm all swollen, and they told me not to leave because they had to admit me for the 3rd time. This last one went well, but well, it was something of 20 minutes that ended up being 2 and a half hours inside the tube. What is positive about them is that they serve cordially and in other areas they were good.
I went on a Saturday for the emergency room. 33 weeks pregnant with pain towards the kidney. I wasn't seen by a gynecologist because as they told me on weekends there isn't one (but they don't tell you either, I had to ask). I was seen by a doctor. For him it was kidney colic. I ended up in the cunqueiro (I asked for voluntary discharge because that diagnosis did not seem at all like what I had). Well, they were contractions.I can't talk about the rest of the services, now in obstetrics 👎.
Terrible attention, mistreatment that you would never expect from hospital workers. As if I didn't pay for the services and they were giving me their time. Terrible customer service!! If I could give 0 stars I would. In Fatima I NEVER had a bad experience, and I have been with them for more than 5 years. Every time I am forced to go to Povisa for (private) insurance reasons I have terrible experiences, especially with the customer service staff. It should be regulated more and more even being a hospital.
I give them one star because they cannot be given less. Emergency department that, like the rest of the hospital, is in free fall towards the abyss. It can't be that you come in for an emergency, an hour passes and no one asks what's wrong with you. I correct it, it could be and it has happened to me, they barely have doctors and the few that there are go through everything, they are burned out and they burn out the patient and the citizen who we are paying their salary with taxes. As soon as they open the deadline I will change to Cunqueiro. By the way, the emergency reception administrator with file number 7606 is truly RUDE.
My experience has been satisfactory. The staff and especially nursing are excellent and it is seen that they have changed protocols because they show up and are pending at all times. The only thing to complain about is the TV service, which is expensive and even if you turn it off, the counter continues running as if you had it on.
Each and every one of the medical departments works in an incredible way, excellent doctors, nurses and assistants, very well prepared, they treat you with incredible delicacy, very humane and when your treatment is finished, and you come out healthy, you will be delighted.Congratulations to all the staff and thank you very much to all of you for all your dedication and good work done.
Terrible emergency service, on a day like today, I've been there since three-fifteen in the afternoon and they still haven't called me to at least take a look at me. There are people in the room, over eighty years old, who have been sitting in a tiny waiting room for three hours without anyone worrying about their situation, with all the viruses swarming around us. These people are supposed to be vulnerable, because here are the poor after two and a half hours waiting for a call to be attended to.The reason seems to be that there is only one emergency service doctor, incredible, the rooms are full and only one doctor, it will be because of doctors waiting to be given an opportunity to work
Terrible service (private pediatrics) it is not worth paying to go to this hospital, they serve you a thousand times better in social security. Even with social security, the doctor will call you if you let them know (especially when it comes to a consultation about a medication that the pediatrician has prescribed). In the emergency room there is no test or analysis despite going repeatedly. Not even a sad flu or COVID test to confirm suspicion.Wishing it to end so as to never renew again.
It is the hospital that covers me through social security, I have also been in private insurance. They have always taken care of us correctly and when my parents were sick they have treated and cared for them well.Near the hospital they have the clinic, where you have consultations, although there are also certain consultations in the hospital. It is true that on some occasions they have been late in giving appointments, but I understand that this is more of a public health issue.
Good night. I am in the emergency room, through private insurance. There are people who have been here since four in the afternoon. It's ten at night, I came in at seven and I still haven't been attended to. They haven't called anyone for more than half an hour. I don't know what's happening... there were people who left, I guess to another hospital. Service has been declining lately. It is a shame that such a renowned hospital loses so much level.
I called to make an appointment at the gynecology on 10/18/23 at 3:44 p.m. (this information is in case you have the possibility of listening to the call) and they tell me that they have just left a space due to a cancellation on Monday 10/23/ 23 at 10:00 a.m. Upon arrival, after traveling 40km to get to Vigo, they tell me that I do not have any appointments scheduled. I explain the situation to them and they tell me that they are going to talk to the gynecologist to see if he can make room for me. They tell me to wait and they will help me. After an hour of waiting, they come back and tell me that they finally can't help me. Absolute joke, I will not return to this hospital.
Today I was in the emergency room at this hospital, I swear that I always liked this hospital but every day it gets worse, today around 1:40 p.m. the doctor in room 2 tried to coerce me by threatening to throw me out if I didn't put on the mask (something that is no longer mandatory, apart from the fact that he had a very bad time with his asthma), he started shouting saying that he was not going to understand my mother, he called three security officers who in front of him said that they could not force me to put it on anymore. that it is not mandatory, only recommended, I also have to emphasize that when I entered they told me that it was not mandatory only if I wanted to wear it, the doctor denied medical attention to my mother, causing a doctor to ask his colleague in room 1 for the “please” as he referred to it, and he started to say that he was going to file a complaint with our health insurance. Then the nurse who had to take the blood samples and give her the medication, started poking her roughly, speaking badly to her and squeezing her where the needle is. This hospital has changed for the worse, the people are poorly educated, with airs of superiority. Before I recommended POVISA 100% but now I'm telling you no.And I'm thinking of changing hospitals. The worst deal of my life.
If you go for Sergas, they treat you fatally. If you're on the surgery waiting list, they don't care if you get worse. In my last admission (early April) Dr. Antonio Climent Aira told me that in less than a month they would call me. I'm still waiting. Calling on the phone, more than disgusting with elevator music and when they come to take the call, not even good morning they give you much less the name to know who you are talking to. You must be rich to be treated as a person and not as a hindrance???
With my mother hospitalized for a hip fracture, I don't understand how it can be done so badly and pay so little attention.Serious oversights and errors on the part of the nursing staff to the point of compromising my mother's health, the only zeal they put in is not allowing two people to stay in the room or in the waiting room. What if they put that same effort into doing their job well?Pick another hospital, and if you can't, give up on the sixth floor. Coincidentally, in Patient Services, before presenting the complaint, they ask me "Do you also come to complain about the sixth floor?"
Congratulations to the entire gynecology, childbirth and pediatrics team for their professionalism and fantastic treatment. Congratulations also to the management of the hospital for its organization and its facilities. The best there can be.
I have spent the whole week between admissions and discharges in the emergency room, an assistant told me that I had already been there yesterday and that I should stop being obsessed. And he told me when he had a saturation of 92, a temperature of 39.8 C° and a blood pressure of 78/60, very unbalanced in everything. And it seems very bad to me that she is still called a patient who is badly obsessed.I asked for voluntary discharge to go to another hospital and they have denied me, I am like a prisoner. I don't think it's legal. On the other hand, they have always accompanied me in the emergency room or in my admissions and this time they do not allow visitors.I am a healthcare professional and I would never treat one of my patients the way I have been treated here.Lots of marketing and facelift but still a terrible hospital with terrible people.
The attention in cosultas is very good and fast. On the contrary, emergencies are usually saturated. Unfortunately they must be saturated. In general, my experience is that it is a good hospital.
The change has been noticed and for the worse. Past good experiences in attention, now terrible. It has ceased to be a benchmark hospital and one that treats patients well, on the contrary. One star because it won't let you put zero
The attention is lousy! I even put in a claim which of course will not do any good. I went privately and not only do they not tell you where you have to pay but when you find out you spend 50 minutes waiting to do it, if I go privately I have priority that for that I pay and well paid because it was very expensive! The consultation 120 that falls within the normal thing but my test was 170 and never in my life I paid that amount for that test anywhere I had gone. Pay I paid but attend as if I did not pay ... if I have obligations, comply with my rights ...
Simply say that you go privately to a consultation and it takes longer than if you go to social security. Even paying takes more than half an hour. There and each one who puts the name they wantTo think that Social Security is faster and more efficient than a private hospital… the unthinkable! And please don't feel the inconvenience… FIX IT !!! THAT FOR THAT I PAY !!
My mother was admitted to the emergency room for a fracture, the doctor who treated us was wonderful and recommended that we operate on her, by the way, said operation was successful, the only thing I reproach is the attention of some nursing assistants since my mother had not changed her for three hours. The diaper told her and her great concern was to reproach me that my relief could not come while I was there but my mother could not be left alone she did not care and her bad answer was that they would change her when I touched her. Then my mother is discharged on the eve of a holiday and I find that I do not know what to do since they have not given her rehabilitation or any explanation of what I should do. I'll wait until the holiday is over to call your doctor or the appropriate nurse to see if they can help me.
I have my partner since Monday admitted to do some tests. From minute one the attention of both the medical and health teams has been excellent. My thanks to all.
The only reason for not putting a star is the staff, who are generally very friendly and professional. My complaint is strictly directed to the management of the hospital. Regardless of my personal opinion towards what was arranged, I find the lack of staff that there is inadmissible, and this is even more exaggerated when there are people on vacation (well deserved by the way).On the other hand, I want to point out that my father, an oncology patient (the day hospital staff is great), caught COVID in the hospital, I still don't know exactly how it happened because no one has given us an explanation.I hope they take action or at least decide if they are public or private.
I'm Kevin, the founder of the site. My personal journey has made me understand how important it is to be well informed before a cosmetic, dental, hair or reproductive medicine procedure. Today I want to help those who are considering a medical trip, by offering them information on the procedures, their costs, preparation and post-operative follow-up. Although my articles are written with the greatest care, they in no way replace the personalized advice of a health professional. I invite you to discover my story to better understand my approach.
